Below is this reader's personal relationship account.
"First I wanted to tell you that I found your website through the daily message I receive from the generous wife website. You were so right when you called last week and said 'there had to be a story behind all this'.
I was married for 26.5 years and that ended in divorce 7 years ago. I moved from the community where I was born and raised and moved 500 miles away to TN. We had 1 son who later moved to TN with me as well.
All during those 7 years the Lord was pursuing my heart and preparing me for a very special gift. I was fervent in prayer that I wanted a life partner that would love me like Ephesians 5. Little did I know that the Lord was also pursuing my former husband, John. The Lord was persistent with the changes that John had to be made not because he was giving in, but because he was giving over to the Lord.
There are lots and lots of God prints all over both our lives over the past 7 years, but the Lord has really pulled things together over the past 18 mos. John and I have learned how to talk for the first time, we understand what it means to be each other's best friend. We understand what it means to submit to the Lord because this was not how I had things planned at all. (Side note, the Lord reminded me of some the 'great plans' I had had and how poorly they turned out when compared to His Plan to urge me onto the right path.)
John was praying on a mountain top in Arkansas over 3 years ago for the Lord to forgive him and help me find a way to at least share with him as a family with our son. WELL, the Lord outdid himself in this one. He has resurrected us to a place we never thought possible. On Aug 5, 2006 we knew without a doubt that the Lord was moving us onto a path together.
John was visiting in TN as he and our son had gone on a canoe trip. Later that evening, we walked downtown (Franklin, TN is an old historic town with a wonderful downtown area) by a store front with a closed sign, but were urged to go inside when we saw a few people milling around and found out they were about to have a live concert and anyone was invited. There were a number of attendees who were from Louisiana, which is our home town. That night there were 3 songs sung by local talent. First song, "Traces of You" (about a man who is looking at the picture of his ex-wife and saying there will always be traces of you for the rest of my life), second song "Tomorrow is Today" (about a dad/husband who has always put off doing things with his family saying he would do that tomorrow, and finally realized that he had to do things now and stop putting them off). Third song, the Beatles "We can Work it Out". WE both looked at each other and said, the Lord is in this place. About a week after that we began praying together over the phone each AM before we started our work day. WE learned to love in a differnet way than ever before. He proposed at his prayer spot on the river in LA where he had prayed to the Lord for so many years for the resurrection of his family. We are planning a marriage celebration on 9/29/2007 here in TN. John will retire from the school system in LA in Aug 30 and move here. We know the Lord will bless him with employment here.
We thank the Lord everyday for all our blessings, but most especially we thank Him for not giving up on us. The words in the crossword puzzle are my special words of admiration for John. He will be delighted at the gesture I am sure.
Thank you so much for caring to make it special. Thank you for allowing me to share our testimony. May the Lord continue to bless you and your business!" ~ Karissa.
