Steeped in Secrets Summary:
Reading spicy books at work and getting caught by your boss’s – very attractive – ex-husband?
This happens to Zoey, who works at a quaint teashop in the small town of Bowen. She hasn’t dated anyone since her divorce. She’s grown to like her independence and, well, there’s nothing a toy or two can’t fix. But things are about to get a whole lot spicier when she finds herself at the mercy of Richie, her boss’s ex-husband. Will she put her morals aside and let desire take the lead?
‘Steeped in Secrets’ is the first book in the series ‘Bowenites’ by author Ruby Dumalo. This series is generously sprinkled with spice, humor, hot men, and authentic heroines.
My Review:
To begin with, I’d like to thank Netgalley for supplying and ARC of this book to me. I greatly appreciate it! Netgalley is a platform where you can request ebook and audiobook ARCs, and it is completely free to use! I highly recommend trying it out!
One of my favorite things about this book is the small town it’s set in. It sounds like my dream town- coffee shop, book store, tea shop all on the same street. I’d never want to leave! It’s cozy and gives all the fall vibes!
A warning I’d give about this book is that it is very spicy. Lke really, really spicy. It’s pretty frequent and pretty descriptive, as well as very sub-dom themed. Which is fine if you like your books full of spice, but I could’ve done with a little less of it.
I did, however, really like that the author strayed away from the usual romance book recipe. You know, the one where guy meets girl, they bicker and rival, then end up falling in love and living happily ever after? No spoilers, so I’ll just say we take a little bit of a different route here and I enjoyed it. There is a second book coming where we continue this story and I’m excited to read it!
In conclusion:
It’s a cute story that isn’t super heavy on the plot and very heavy on the spice, making it the perfect quick, pallate cleanser fall romance read.
